Pacific North Region 2020 Report
The Pacific Region North is made up of congregations from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. It has been a different and challenging time to be involved in women’s ministry this past year, but that is sometime how we know that our ministry is important. The struggle and joy of women’s ministry in our region has been to support and meet women at varying places of life. With that, we have continued to encourage women in their local churches to be intentionally involved in the lives of one another and expand that out to our communities. Women in our region are involved in many church ministries but also find the challenge of living their lives in the Pacific Northwest, an area highly known for its unchurched population. There is a constant need to be involved in families, communities and workplaces where daily lives are constantly turned into opportunities to share God.
We saw a lot of change this past year on our PRNWM Regional board. This includes operating with a couple vacant positions on the board. Our annual meeting included a vote to fill our vacated President position and Treasurer positions. Our board now includes: Erin Sibuma, President; Kim Goodman, Treasurer; Amber Topham, Secretary; vacant, Vice-President North; vacant, Vice-President South; vacant, Retreat Coordinator.
Unfortunately during this time of our government’s stay-home stay-healthy order, many of our events have had to be postponed until further notice. As a regional board, we have been feeling called to hear from our sisters in Christ, and learn how we can serve our regional churches better. Once we are able to have gatherings again, we plan to do a series of cluster meetings with our church and talk with them and learn how we can better serve them and assist them in serving their communities.
Some of our Regional Women’s Ministry activities this past year have included:
October 18-20, 2019 – Cornerstone Community Church Women’s Ministry: Ferndale, WA, hosted our Fall Retreat at The Firs Retreat Center in Bellingham, WA. Our retreat theme was called The King and I.
October 20, 2019 - We held our annual meeting for the first time this year at our Fall retreat!
January 10-12, 2020 – Pastors’ Wives Retreat. There was a full weekend where our pastors’ wives spent time rejuvenating, relaxing and connecting with each other. Throughout the weekend there were times of sharing and encouragement for the ministry road. What a blessing these women are to our Region. We look forward to being able to gather and connect again in person. Until then we continue to lift each other up in prayer.
In Christ,
Erin Sibuma,
Regional President, PRNWM (2019-2020)
